Ratargul Swamp Forest is a freshwater swamp backwoods situated in Gowain River, Fatehpur Union, Gowainghat, Sylhet, Bangladesh. Ratargul was once remembered to be the main marsh timberland in Bangladesh, and one of only a handful of exceptional freshwater swamp woodlands on the planet. Afterward, more marsh backwoods in particular Jugirkandi Mayabon, Bujir Bon and Lokkhi Baor swamp woodland were found in Bangladesh. The woodland is normally monitored under the Department of Forestry, Government of Bangladesh.
Its region is 3, 325.61 section of land including 504 section of land proclaimed as the creature safe-haven in 2015. It is known as the Sundarbans of Sylhet. This main bog timberland in Bangladesh is found 26 kilometers (16 mi) a long way from Sylhet. The woodland's name comes from, "Rata" or "Pati" tree, utilized by local people of Sylhet.The evergreen forest is arranged by the waterway Goain and connected with the channel Chengir Khal. The vast majority of the trees developing here are the Dalbergia reniformis (করচ গাছ Koroch tree). The woods is lowered under 20-30 feet water in the stormy season. Until the end of the year, the water level is around 10 feet down.
